2008 IMPDA Awards Announced PDF Print E-mail

The IMPDA awards for 2008 are now in and counted.  This year there was great interest in the nominations  and a lot of categories were well contested.  With the results of the poll in,  it has been especially a pleasure to announce the award for the most significant contribution to Mobile - Dealers or industry.  jim_hyde.jpg

logo_tmobile.gifThis goes to Jim Hyde Managing Director of T-Mobile.  The award was for providing services to the disabled.  This was a well deserved award and highlights the point that millions of disabled people need to have a section dedicated to them on not just T-Mobile but all network web sites.  The T-Mobile section was found to be easy for disabled to navigate with everything clearly laid out, and the option to call a dedicated advisor who could help them,

This is just what is needed as many these days ignore or do very little for this section of our community.  If anything it means that Jim and his team do look at all sections of the community, and go out of their way to ensure that they are catered for, and not just concentrate on the young teenagers but ensure that young or old well or with a disability help is at hand.

Chris Caudle Chairman IMPDA said " We are delighted for Jim and T-Mobile in winning this category.  With a recent berevement after looking after my mother for over 30 years I can appriciate any help that people do for the infirm or disabled, so i am personally pleased that this has been recognised by the voters in naming Jim the winner.  The IMPDA awards this year have been bigger and better than before.  We unfortunately had a problem with one category which was receiving votes from an automated system however that was quickly resolved and we have taken steps to ensure that the problem is not able to happen again.

I am delighted for all the winners and we will look forward to next years awards which will commence nominations next year.  for a full list of winners for this year click here

Message from the Chairman IMPDA

6thumb_002.jpg

On behalf of the IMPDA and its team I would like to wish all UK dealers/distributors/networks a very Happy New Year 2009.

We wish all dealers good luck for 2009 and that their business continues to survive in 2009 after what has been a very difficult last quarter of 2008.  Dealers this year need all the help they can get, and we hope that Mobile Network Operators will help to keep the independent dealer alive and well in 2009 and maybe offer special deals which will help to bring more business to the independent sector.

The future for dealers this year may be more difficult due to the economic climate, however dealers are tough and many will survive this difficult time.  Despite the gloom, consumers are using their mobiles more and more, and although their may be a slight downturn, it;' not as bad as some sectors. That does not mean that dealers can be complacent. If anything diversification is the word this year, with more dealers taking on additional products to sell, and not just mobiles.  Suppliers can also help dealers achieve additional sales, If suppliers would like to help UK dealers then please contact us to discuss.

Happy New Year to you all

Chris Caudle

Chairman IMPDA
