IMPDA 2008 AWARDS - WINNERS |
|

|
This years IMPDA awards were closely contended for each category. Votes came in by email, and by the IMPDA site and forum with over 2653 combined votes being cast. Unfortunately we did have delay the announcements due to an investigation on one category after it was reported to us and subsequent investigation found that automated voting was found to have taken place. However this has now been resolved for that category.
The awards and the interest paid to it shows how dealers and companies value those who were nominated and who took the time and trouble to cast their votes for this years winners.
Presentations will be held later this month, but we are pleased to announce the winners of this years IMPDA 2008 awards as follows:-
The Nokia range of mobiles has always been thought of as reliable, sturdy and long lasting, the popularity of this manufacturer still hold true. With HTC coming a close second Nokia may have to look out for its up and coming rival for next year.
Runner up 2nd place HTC
This new company to the UK has shown its popularity and its determination to offer its vast product range to all dealers in the UK. With new markets opening all the time and their ability to provide quality goods at competitive prices in conjunction with computer 2000, they will no doubt be a contender for the distributor award next year
Runner up 2nd place Mfonex Ltd
Having been taken over by Miles Publishing Mobile Business magazine remains the choice for businesses and dealers. With a new editor at the helm and a completely new look website, Mobile Business magazine has in its new form made a big impact. With the magazine improving month on month it can only get better
Runner up 2nd place Mobile News
It was a no contest really as this mobile won hands down. Apart from the name no one seemed to like this mobile one bit, there have been many reports on the phone but one thing is certain dealers don’t like it or selling it.
Despite losing T- Mobile Fone Logistics goes from strength to strength, as was shown by the popularity of the vote in winning this category. With a redesigned web site, which we found easy to use, clear and helpful to dealers, they have set themselves gaols which they are hitting. Many are expecting more things from this company, and they have the capacity and drive to give it.
Runner up 2nd place EBS Distribution
Was it a surprise? We don’t think so, its one of the revolutionary mobile of our time, easy to use and enjoyed, loved and wanted by many. It was just a shame that Apple and O2 restricted its distribution to a minimal number of dealers. Fantastic phone – poor distribution to dealers
Runner up 2nd place Nokia
- Best Network –
Again with a fantastic range of tariffs and more importantly good customer service and support for dealers, it was by far the most popular of all the networks. Their support for dealers seems to have been an influence in the voting, Well done!
Runner up 2nd Place O2
- The most significant contribution to Mobile - dealers or the industry
Jim Hyde T – Mobile for services to the disabled
The IMPDA has real pleasure in announcing this award, many networks do not have an easy section if at all on disabled. T-Mobile does and it is geared to make it easy to navigate and gain the information you need as well as being able to offer the disabled customer a personal 1 to 1 with an adviser. There are millions of disabled people in this country and its been a pleasure to see a network take this on bard and create a section specially for them.
Runner up Faisel Sheikh (Fone Doctors)

Message from the Chairman IMPDA
On behalf of the IMPDA and its team I would like to wish all UK dealers/distributors/networks a very Happy New Year 2009.
We wish all dealers good luck for 2009 and that their business continues to survive in 2009 after what has been a very difficult last quarter of 2008. Dealers this year need all the help they can get, and we hope that Mobile Network Operators will help to keep the independent dealer alive and well in 2009 and maybe offer special deals which will help to bring more business to the independent sector.
The future for dealers this year may be more difficult due to the economic climate, however dealers are tough and many will survive this difficult time. Despite the gloom, consumers are using their mobiles more and more, and although their may be a slight downturn, it;' not as bad as some sectors. That does not mean that dealers can be complacent. If anything diversification is the word this year, with more dealers taking on additional products to sell, and not just mobiles. Suppliers can also help dealers achieve additional sales, If suppliers would like to help UK dealers then please contact us to discuss.
Happy New Year to you all
Chris Caudle
